The Transfer Academic Success Program (TASP) is designed to support transfer students who are placed on academic probation (AP) during their first year at Cal Poly. TASP supports the transfer of students on academic probation by providing dedicated support, improving self-efficacy, and facilitating the use of academic resources. Review our admission requirements and selection criteria, including your planned major, completed courses, cumulative grade point average, and other variables. Cal Poly does not accept transfer requests to lower departments, students pursuing a second bachelor`s degree, system visitors, or students seeking professional growth or development. As a transfer candidate, you must have completed four mandatory general education courses with a grade of C- or better. We call these courses the “Golden Four”. These include: If you`ve been taking college-level courses since the summer beyond your high school diploma, you`re considered a transfer student. Applicants applying as a transfer student must be a college junior with 60 or more transferable semester units or 90 quarterly units at the time of transfer. To determine appropriate courses that meet the English composition, critical thinking and oral communication requirements listed in the Transfer Selection Criteria Guide, refer to the GE CSU or SBCC IGETC. Use the main articulation agreement to find the CPSLO course listed in the Transfer Selection Criteria Guide and the appropriate SBCC course that meets the requirement.

Students with extra-state and/or four-year university courses should compare their catalog course descriptions with Cal Poly`s catalog to determine the appropriate course content for those courses. Cal Poly is not able to evaluate transcripts prior to selection. All students are strongly encouraged to meet with an SBCC Academic Advisor in your academic course planning process for Cal Poly. We evaluate and admit students based on their major and admission is competitive in all majors. Each major has its own selection criteria and the required courses that transfer students must have completed in order to be considered competitive during the selection process. As a leading program nationwide, Cal Poly is a great place for transfer students to pursue their five-year Bachelor of Architecture (BARCH). Prospective students must meet the transfer selection criteria and be ready to enter the third year of the Cal Poly program. After admission, transfer students will achieve their professional qualification in an additional three years. Although UHC requires a total college average of at least 2.00 for transfer, Cal Poly is severely affected and admits that they generally have a higher cumulative average.

Transfer students must also have a good reputation at the last college or university attended. All potential Cal Poly transfers are highly advised to create their Cal Poly VIP account, which is a custom website that provides you with the information you are interested in. Please note that the Architecture Department will not preview a candidate`s portfolio or transcripts before the scheduled exam date. If you have any questions about portfolios and portfolio submissions, please contact archadmissions@calpoly.edu. All engineering degree programs are exempt from critical thinking as part of the admission requirements. In addition to the initial qualifications for California State University, Cal Poly considers other factors for the admission of transfer students. We ask you to provide a major when submitting your application, and our selection process will evaluate you against other candidates within the same major. When reviewing your application, we take into account: For admission in fall 2020, digital transcripts must be sent at the same time as your digital portfolio, but as a separate PDF file with the following caption: Last Name First Name Intermediate Transcript.pdf. As with portfolios, transcripts must arrive at archadmissions@calpoly.edu before February 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
