Primary prevention refers to efforts to prevent or intervene in the development or onset of disease, health behaviour or injury. Primary prevention approaches can be universal when applied to society or populations in general, or selective in at-risk populations and individuals. As part of USM`s COVID-19 health protocols, targeted health communications and a social marketing campaign will be part of the overall health protocol management plan. Social marketing is a process that uses marketing principles and techniques to influence audience behavior that ultimately benefits society, but the focus is on health promotion behaviors and reducing health risks. While USM faculty, staff, administrators, and students apply personal safety practices (social distancing, frequent hand washing, face coverings, avoiding face contact, etc.), there is a need to engage these audiences in developing robust health communications and social marketing campaigns to segment messages to the appropriate audiences. These include the development of health messages to share, language to use, and communication channels to disseminate information. We are happy to welcome back dancers to face-to-face classes here at RAB and Dance! Our employees have worked diligently to implement health procedures and policies based on New York State guidelines to provide the safest dance environment for all. We are closely monitoring all policy changes made by national and local health authorities and will make any necessary changes. The guidelines listed below, along with our detailed reopening plan, coupled with personal responsibility, demonstrate our best efforts to protect our dancers, families and staff. (As of 08.09.2020) Your personal safety is a general recognition and avoidance of potentially dangerous situations or people around you. ETSU Public Safety works tirelessly to ensure the safety of students, staff and university faculty, but by striving to increase your personal safety, you can help you avoid potentially dangerous situations. People who do not have symptoms can still have COVID-19 and potentially transmit the virus to their contacts.
Remember to follow all other health and safety measures, including social distancing and wearing a face covering or mask. The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is responsible for contact tracing. USM will support contact tracing in accordance with MSDH policies and protocols. Coordinated contact tracing at MSU begins when a person connected to MSU receives a confirmed or probable diagnosis of COVID-19 in a laboratory. USM`s interdisciplinary contact tracing team quickly identifies and interviews individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 to activate the contact tracing workflow. Everyone has a personal responsibility to practice social distancing, wash their hands frequently, cough and sneeze, use and dispose of tissues properly, avoid touching their face, and respect others. All members of the USM community must enforce physical distancing protocols in public places and places where individuals are likely to interact. Supervisors are expected to ensure that employees themselves enforce physical distancing protocols in all areas.
The CDC also recommends wiping all living, studying, working, and dining areas before leaving a room where you worked or ate. This includes a private workspace or shared location or equipment (e.g., computers, audio-visual and other electrical appliances, photocopiers, desks and tables, chair arms, light switches, door handles, handles, etc.). To the best of your ability, clear desk and table surfaces in personal offices and workplaces to support deep cleaning. The use of hand sanitizer is also effective after contact with commonly used surfaces. Student Health Services at Moffitt Health CenterScott Hall118 College Drive Box #5066Hattiesburg, MS 39406 Students must wear a face covering when attending in-person university classes and required classroom activities in person. Students who cannot wear face coverings for medical or other reasons should contact the Office of the Dean of Studies for accommodations. According to New York State guidelines, our class size limits are set by allowing a minimum of 6 feet of distance between students at all times. Each student is assigned a 6×6 square and/or a seat on the floor and pole, which helps give dancers the optimal space to continue practicing social distancing. Employees must notify the supervisor and then the human resources department to keep everyone informed of the employee`s return to work.
Employees who cannot wear face coverings for medical or other reasons should contact their supervisor in consultation with Human Resources for accommodations. USM supervisors on campus regularly clean workplaces, classrooms and public spaces. In addition, surfaces frequently touched by several people, such as doorknobs, handrails, switches and faucets, are cleaned and disinfected more frequently.
