ATVs cannot be used on public roads, roads or parking lots, except on the public right-of-way next to the busy portion of the highway, with the exception of a limited access or cross road. ATVs may operate on a road in a county road network outside the corporate boundaries of a city or municipality if the road is designated for that purpose by the appropriate county road authority. ATVs can travel on a highway or road if approved by law enforcement, if conventional motor vehicles cannot be used for transportation due to snow or other extreme road conditions. A vehicle may only travel on a road or highway for a special event of limited duration, carried out according to a pre-agreed schedule, with the approval of the relevant government entity. The event may only take place on the frozen surface of public waters with the permission of the Ministry. A person under fourteen (14) years of age may not drive a vehicle without the immediate supervision of a person who is at least eighteen (18) years of age, except on land owned or controlled by the person or his or her parents or guardians. A person cannot drive a vehicle on a public highway without a valid driver`s license. Ind. Code Ann. § 14-16-1-20 Age Requirements: A person under the age of eighteen may not drive or be a passenger on an ATV without eye protection and protective helmets, without a safety permit or while carrying a passenger. A person under the age of eighteen but at least ten years of age may drive an off-highway vehicle only if he or she is visually supervised at all times by a parent, guardian or person over eighteen years of age holding a valid driver`s licence. This does not apply to a person: it includes the use of ATVs in designated state parks, in areas where local jurisdiction overrides the state`s ban on the use of ATVs, and in designated areas with speed limit requirements.
Be sure to check local jurisdiction for the use of legal ATVs on the road in Oklahoma, as these vary greatly across the state. Idaho allows most ATV applications like the legal route with some necessary requirements and examples. Although the capital (Boise) prohibits the use of ATVs on public roads, most other regions allow it, unless the local jurisdiction regulates otherwise. Oklahoma has conditional requirements for the use of legal ATVs on the road in the state. Off-highway vehicles, including but not limited to tricycles, four-wheeled vehicles or other off-highway vehicles that are not specifically intended for road traffic, may operate on the shoulders of all public roads, except interstate highways, solely for the purpose of agricultural activities within a five-mile radius of the farm, provided that the operator has a valid category “E” driver`s licence and a valid category “E” driver`s licence and a valid driver`s licence. Vehicle registration. Off-road vehicles are allowed to travel on the shoulders of all public roads or highways, except interstate highways, every day that begins thirty minutes after sunrise and ends thirty minutes before sunset. Accidental crossing of public roads or highways is allowed. Off-road vehicles may be driven by university or college employees, law enforcement officers, and paramedics who are certified emergency technicians during and within the scope of their employment on roads within the boundaries of state colleges and universities.

You must also wear a helmet and glasses. You may not want to exchange your car for an ATV, but legal all-wheel drive can be useful for getting from one road to another or crossing a road. However, the legality of ATVs on public roads varies from state to state. It`s not that hard to make a quad road permit, and you can make it possible for a few hundred dollars. Considering how expensive the ticket would be to travel on a busy thoroughfare with an unauthorized, unregistered and legal ATV, it`s money and time you`ll never regret. California has fairly strict regulations on the use of ATVs, including use on public roads, public lands, and private property. Tennessee is one of the few states to have separate laws for ATVs and ATVs.
The use of mountain biking is much more limited. N.H. Rev. Stat. 215-A:6 The operation of all OHRVs.It is illegal to operate an OHRV in the period from 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise, without displaying at least one illuminated headlamp and one illuminated taillight. No person may operate an OHRV for any part of the right-of-way of a public highway, including the busy portion of a well-maintained public trail, unless provided for. No one may use an OHRV at a permissible and prudent speed under the given conditions and without regard to actual and potential hazards. In all cases, the speed must be controlled in such a way that the operator can avoid a collision with a person, vehicle or object. It is illegal to use an OHRV to endanger a person or damage property. No person may operate an OHRV under a Railway Infrastructure Act when the rails are still intact, unless otherwise specified, except in an emergency. No person may operate an OHRV on the right-of-way of a public highway classified as a Class I highway and designated as an interstate highway, toll road or limited access highway. A person may drive an OHRV on any public route where the operation of that OHRV is not otherwise prohibited by law if the person holds a driver`s license or has completed the OHRV Safety School course.
In Michigan, you can register your ATV or UTV as a motor vehicle, which would allow the use of the road, but I couldn`t find much practical information. Even for ATVs and ATVs that are not registered as motor vehicles, several places in Michigan have local regulations that allow you to use them on the roads. Roads where you can legally drive in Kansas include county and community roads, as well as city roads, where the city has fewer than 15,000 residents.
