Each participating law school received an individual report that included various recommendations based on each school`s scores (see example here). In some cases, our analysis showed opportunities for law schools to provide additional non-academic support to help students who were struggling to balance external responsibilities such as work and child care. Where racial differences were noted in pub passage, we encouraged law schools to continue to promote inclusive environments through culturally appealing teaching and other targeted means. We also showed evidence confirming the use of early academic and monetary interventions as early as Year 1L, and we made recommendations that included promoting growth mindsets, supporting students as more effective learners, increasing students` efforts to develop their legal skills, and much more. For exams published before 2011, see Exam Confirmations. In a separate study currently under development, we examine an ongoing debate on the extent to which faculty turnover and law student transfers significantly affect institutional bar outcomes by changing the composition of cohorts. This discussion is particularly relevant for schools looking to demonstrate a “good reason”, as the guidance note to ABA 316 establishes transfer as a relevant factor for compliance. Our next report aims to provide solid data to help non-compliant schools with high transfer rates show that they actually prepare students for passing the bar exam, but the loss of these students obscures their law school`s adherence to the Bar Pass standard. Audit Report 2019 VCE Legal Studies (modified June 22, 2020) In addition to analyzing the passage from the bar to the student level, AccessLex examines the correlates of bar crossings at the university level. In a working study (full results will be published in early 2022), we examine the law school`s outperformance or underperformance in the bar exam.
Preliminary results suggest that many institutions, including several schools reported for non-compliance with ABA 316, have bar passage rates that exceed expectations relative to the median LSAT score of their incoming students, undergraduate average, and other factors. We hope that this empirical analysis will provide solid evidence to show that many law schools contribute positively to the legal education of their students in a way that is not effectively captured with traditional parameters. The Audit Division delivers the SEC`s national audit program. The Department`s mission is to protect investors, ensure market integrity, and support responsible capital formation through risk-based strategies that: (1) improve compliance; (2) prevent fraud; (3) risk monitoring; and (4) inform decision-makers. The results of the Department`s audits are used by the SEC to inform rule-making initiatives, identify and monitor risks, improve industry practices, and prosecute. The table below lists the success rates for the July 2022 bar examinations reported by each province or territory after the exam results were released. Court announcements, if available, can be accessed by clicking on the name of the court. Results from the previous two jurisdictions (February 2022 and July 2021) are presented below.
Detailed annual statistics provided by jurisdictions are published each spring on the statistics page of the Law Society Examiner`s website. Given the high stakes of bar exams for graduates and staff of our member universities, AccessLex conducts research initiatives to support institutional efforts to improve outcomes for future law students. Much of our ongoing research focuses on understanding the myriad of factors that influence bar traffic, with the goal of identifying real-world solutions that schools, students, and staff can use to increase bar success. In addition, our research assists law schools that may not comply with ABA 316. According to Standard Guidance Note 316, the ABA can give law schools an additional two years to comply if they can prove a “good reason” to renew, and our research program aims to help law schools develop a ready-made defense if necessary.
